The first that you should do in house training your dog is to establish his living area.  This is where he spends most of his time.  This could be any place in your home where there is a small confined space such as part of your garage.  It is important that you try to spend as much time as possible in his den.  You can give him a bed which can be anything from a cardboard box to a towel.

The next thing you should do is to establish his toilet area.  You need to make sure that every time your dog wants to eliminate he has access to this area.  Unless he already developed a strong habit of elimination in that area you need to accompany him every time.

You should also give your dog a regular feeding schedule.  If you know when your dog needs to eliminate then you’ll be aware of when to take her out.  A healthy dog knows how to control his bladder and bowel for eight hours.  You should not confine your dog without access to his toilet area for a long period of time since this could ruin everything.

To speed up the natural house training process of your dog it would be very beneficial for both of you.  If you have followed all the instructions above he will surely be house trained in due time.  To make things faster you can always provide praise and rewards to your dog every time she eliminates in the right place.  If is also advisable that you do not reprimand your dog for mistakes since this will only slow down the house training process.

However if your dog continues to eliminate in his area, either you have left him there for too long or the den may be too large for him.  You need to take the dog to the area more frequently or give him a smaller den. if the problem still persists the dog may have some urinary tract problems or medical conditions that could cause the problem.  If this happens you may need to seek help from a professional.
